About Anne

Passionate about books and reading, love writing - fiction, poetry, and non-fiction alike. Live in small Cumbrian village, deeply involved in village life, love anything arty or crafty, often to be found with a paintbrush or crochet hook in hand. Has a passion for coffee and cheese.  Also love cooking, social media, and animals!

Born and raised in a Lancashire cotton mill town, moved to Kendal for secondary school, before migrating south to London for 5 years.  Active in the Labour and Trades Union movement in Kendal, Hackney North, and Holborn and St Pancras, before having a son and moving back north to Cumbria.

The current day-job is web design and hosting (http://astarte.yobunny.co.uk) , previously I have worked as a letterpress printer, a book-keeper in the construction industry, a hotel housekeeper, a shop assistant and office clerk for large multi-national retailer, a clerical officer with USDAW (shop workers' union), and I was the national pensions and negotiations officer with BTOG (British Transport Officers' Guild) in the mid-1980's.

Retain a great interest in politics and matters that affect working people and sole traders especially, supporting both the EU VAT Action campaign and Jeremy Corbyn's candidature for the leadership of the Labour Party.
